There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman for Arlene Burkman Bjorson, a daughter of Clarence & Mabel Axelson Burkman who was born July 7, 1929 in Youngstown and went to be with her heavenly father on April 29, 2018. She graduated from South High School in the Class of 1947 and later attended YSU. She married her husband of 68 years, the love of her life, William D. Bjorson on September 2, 1948. They were blessed with 3 sons, David, Jeffrey, & Brian, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was a home-maker raising their sons and then worked at the E. J. DeBartolo Corp. in the Accounting Department for 29 years before retiring in 1996. Arlene loved and was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she was active as a Youth Counselor, served on the Church Council for 8 years, member of the women’s Lydia Circle, Elderberry group, Bible Study, and Altar Guild. She also became a Stephens Minister and visited Bethel members who could no longer attend church. Her family was her most important enjoyment and loved visiting with them. She and Bill loved travel and made many different trips. One was around the world including the Scandinavian countries to see their heritage and most recently to Israel and the Holy Land. They also enjoyed their many trips to Florida where they had a condo at Ocean Village on Hutchinson Island spending time there with family and friends. Bill & Arlene loved to dance and were members of Colony & Carousel Dance Clubs. Arlene leaves her sons, David (Nancy) from Gulf Breeze, FL. and Jeffrey from Canfield; her grandchildren Kristian (Sherri) Bjorson, Tracy (David) Rowe, Jason (Jennifer) Bjorson, Brooke (Jack) Frampton, Brein (Mike) Marzano, Barett Bjorson, Kristofer Bjorson and Laura (Ryder) Curry; her gr. grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Anna & Andrew Bjorson, Shelby, Sawyer & Hutson Rowe, Owen & Emery Bjorson, Max, Harry & Baer Frampton, Birkly & Mazzy Marzano and Brayden & Alyssa Curry and her sister, Marjorie Rankine Towey in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Brian Lee, granddaughter Jennifer & parents Clarence & Mabel Burkman. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the Service. Material tributes may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 425 Crestview Dr. Boardman, OH 44512. Arrangements are by the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Anstrom Chapel.
