Carol M. Lageson, 79, of Howland Twp. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 11:40 AM Thursday Feb. 4, 2016 following a 10 month battle with leukemia. She was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Mankato, MN the daughter of the late Norman and Inez (Koppen) Suserud and has been a resident of Howland Twp. since 1975. Carol was employed for the past 25 years at the Children's Rehabilitation Center in Howland. She began her career there as a volunteer then became a part-time and then a full-time teaching assistant. She worked with the original child care program and became the coordinator of the Kids Garden Child Care Program and pre-school. What made her special was her unconditional regard for all children. She also was very active at the Living Lord Lutheran Church of Howland where she served on the Outreach committee, the Fellowship committee, and helped with funeral dinners, receptions and the meal ministry. Carol loved camping and boating with her husband and family especially on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. She also enjoyed reading, music, attending the theater, and bowling. On June 30, 1956, Carol married her high school sweetheart John J. "Lager" Lageson and together they shared 51 years of marriage until his death Jan. 14, 2008. She also was preceded in death by a brother Johnny, and 3 sisters Betty, Norma, and Bev. She will be sadly missed by 3 sons, Steve (Carol) of Painesville Twp, OH, Rick (Tina) of Howland, and Mark of Middletown, OH. Also surviving is a brother Robert (Katina) Suserud of Rockledge, FL, 12 grandchildren, Kirsten, Jacqui, Matthew, Cara, Bobby, Kelly, Ben, Jamie, Dan, Brad, Ciara, and Juliana, and 3 great grandchildren, Isobel, Julian, and Jack. She also leaves nieces and nephews, Christine, Sonny, Carol Lee, Kim, Deborah, Bobby, Inez, Linda, Terry, and her beloved dog "Cujo". Carol also will also be missed by her extended family at Children's Rehab Center and at Living Lord Lutheran Church. Calling hours for Carol will be Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Living Lord Lutheran Church in Howland, as well as one hour prior to the service. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the church, officiated by Pastor William Leitch. The family suggests material contributions be made to Children's Rehabilitation Center 885 Howland Wilson Rd. NE Warren, OH 44484 or to Living Lord Lutheran Church 851 Niles Cortland Rd. NE Warren, OH 44484. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts-Clark Chapel.
