Katherine Jones Young, 100 of Howland Township, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was born November 13, 1915 in Howland, the daughter of the late Earl O. and Lottie Goodhart Jones. She was a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Katherine was a 1933 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She operated the Cellar Shop Antiques in her home for 40 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Howland Community Church, where she had served as deaconess and was instrumental in the church antique shows. Katherine was a member of the YWCA Goodtimers, the 50 Plus Club at Central Christian Church, the Howland SCOPE and the Hottie Totties Chapter of the Red Hat Ladies Society. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters and enjoyed traveling, flea markets, embroidery and reading. On April 30, 1937, she married Harold D. Young who preceded her in death June 5, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Allan Young of Howland on September 11, 2009; her son-in-law, Thomas Jordan of Howland on September 26, 2014; a daughter-in-law, Irene Young and a brother, William E. Jones who was killed in World War II. Katherine is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Jordan of Howland; a daughter-in-law, Karen Young of Howland; one son, William Harold (Gail) Young of Grove City, OH; three grandchildren, Christina (Richard) Nichols of Howland, Robert Adam Young of Vienna and Kimberly Holbrook of Grove City and two great granddaughters, Taylor and Autumn Nichols of Howland. The family expresses special thanks to Katherine's home caregivers, Karen Sullivan and Nancy Bator for their compassionate and loving care. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday.
