Virginia Scott Griffin, 98, of Fowler Twp. passed away peacefully at her home 5:30 AM Saturday Oct. 8, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born April 6, 1918 in Elkins, WV the daughter of Blaine and Alta (Smith) Scott. A lifetime Fowler resident, Virginia was a graduate of Fowler High School and had attended the Youngstown Business College. She retired from the accounting department of the Packard Electric Division of General Motors Corp. in 1974 after 35 years of service. Virginia was a member of the Fowler Community Church and the ladies' organization there. She volunteered for many years at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, was a member of the Howland SCOPE, and the Red Hat Society. Her husband, Fern E. Griffin, whom she married Aug. 28, 1943 preceded her in death on May 28, 1967. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday Oct. 11, 2016 at the Fowler Community Church where friends will be received from 11 AM until service time. The Rev. Joel Dickson will officiate. Interment will be in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler. Material contributions may be made to the Fowler Community Church 4665 Wilson Sharpsville Rd. Cortland, OH 44410.
