James R. Patsey, 62, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 4, 2013 at his home. Mr. Patsey was born in Sharon, PA, on June 14, 1950, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Kollar) Patsey. Jim was an 1968 alumni of Brookfield High School and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He furthered himself at Westminster College graduating in 1980 with a Master of Education Degree and had also completed courses at Kent State University as well as Ashland University. He was a deeply devoted and longtime educator to his beloved students beginning his carrier at Lisbon Local Schools in 1972. Mr. Patsey had began his career with several administrative positions for Beaver Local Schools, Urbana City Schools and had eventually became Superintendent serving Southern Local School, Union Local Schools, Black River Local Schools and lastly at Federal Hocking Local Schools before his retirement in 2011 with nearly thirty-nine years of dedication to the communities in which he worked. During his carrier he had also served as a coach for several athletic teams and had been active in many service organizations in various communities. In his leisure time he enjoyed running daily, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers supporter, and had enjoyed golfing and had also worked as a starter at the Yankee Run Golf Course. He was a member of the Youngstown Road Runners Club and had also participated in seven marathons including the Boston Marathon twice of which he was very proud. He will be sadly missed by his son Sean M. Patsey of Brookfield; his mother Josephine Patsey of Masury; brother Larry J. Patsey of Masury; sister Arlene (James) Evans of Brookfield; niece and nephew Nicole and Rob Rainier of Brunswick, OH; his companion Jane Eddy of Athens, OH; and by a great-niece and great-nephew. Jim was preceded in death by his father on December 28, 2008 and by his son J.J. Patsey on November 7, 1989. Calling hours will be held Thursday February 7, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Madasz Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes 6923 Warren-Sharon Road Brookfield, OH 44403. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM with the Rev. Joyce Lawson officiating. Burial will take place next to his son at Lisbon Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions to the J.J. Patsey Memorial Fund care of the Lisbon Alumni Association PO Box 421 Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
